@ITGuy: Having girls book ST rooms is no longer safe IMHO. In fact, Hujing stopped doing it for a while, but maybe she’s doing it again. But it’s now very difficult to sneak into a ST hotel. A few months ago, I snuck into one, and then the front desk called the girl’s room and asked me to register. I said I didn’t have ID. They then asked for a bribe. I decided this was going downhill fast, so I split. Another time, I was simply told to go away when I tried to enter a ST hotel. They said foreigners are not allowed in. I can give you a couple more stories, but you get the idea.

@Mid: Ok, I didn't know HJ stopped doing that. But yes you are right; I have had the same problems last year. Since then I simply have not tried 3-star hotels anymore. Recently I only use 5-star hotels, and I had my first try at an AirBNB apartment.
@ITGuy: Unfortunately, some Chinese have hidden cameras in the rooms that they rent out via AirBNB. They actually think they are entitled to do so, because they want to make sure nothing is vandalized or stolen. Of course, some may simply be pervs.

@Midwestern: yeah I've seen you write about it on ISG a long time ago. The apartment i stayed had two cameras and motion sensors. But the guy warned me about them and told me to disable them. Didn't stop me from inspecting the rooms anyway. .. at least a small comfort was that he didn't report my stay to the police, and he didn't care at all about my 'girlfriend'. So I'm probably going to repeat it eventually.
